‘X-Men’ And ‘The Cleaning Lady’ Star Dies At 42
Actor Adan Canto is probably best known for his roles in the films and TV shows “Designed Survivor,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Narcos,” and “Bruised.” According to IMDB, his most recent role was in the TV series “The Cleaning Lady.”
Deadline reports that Canto recently lost a private battle with appendiceal cancer. He died on January 8, 2024. He was 42 years old.
After learning the news of Canto’s death, FOX and WBTV released a statement, “We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Adan Canto. A wonderful actor and dear friend, we were honored to have him as part of the Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment families since his U.S. debut in The Following more than a decade ago.”
The statement continues, “Most recently, he lit up the screen in The Cleaning Ladywith a powerful performance that showcased his artistry, range, depth and vulnerability. This is an unfathomable loss, and we grieve alongside his wife Stephanie, their children and loved ones. We will miss Adan dearly.”
Canto’s representatives at UTA, Entertainment360, and Viewpoint shared, “Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever. He will be greatly missed by so many.”
Canto began his acting career in Mexico City, Mexico, where he acted in several commercials. Then, he was cast on the Mexican show “Estado de Gracia.” In 2013, he acted for the first time in the United States while playing Paul Torres on FOX’s “The Following.”
While he was a talented actor, Cantos wanted to do more than act. According to The Wrap, he opened his own production company in 2013. He named it Canto House Pictures. His first project was a short called “Before Tomorrow,” which he directed.
Another project called “The Shot” was nominated for three awards and won two of them. It was nominated for the Critic’s Choice Award by the Iowa Independent Film Festival. It won the Best Narrative Short award by both the San Antonio Film Festival and the Los Angeles Movie Awards.

Canto is survived by his wife, Stephanie Ann Canto as well as their two children, 3 year old Roman Alder and 1 year old Eve Josephine.
