Wife of NY Yankees Executive Found Dead At Home

Rachel Minaya, the wife of New York Yankees executive Omar Minaya, was found ‘unconscious and unresponsive’  in the bathroom of her home, in New Jersey, on Saturday. This happened at around 3:30 p.m.

Police found Rachel, and tried to resuscitate her. Then, she was rushed to Hackensack Meridian Health Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood ,where medical staff pronounced her dead. She was 55.

Per the New York Post story, suicide was not the cause of death, according to a person who was briefed by the Minayas. Reports indicate, Omar was not home when his wife died.

‘That’s the only way to describe it,’ he said. ‘We love her, and we miss her – there will be a void… she’ll be here with us in spirit.’

Teddy said his family wants to give a statement  in the near future, ‘but for now, we’re just taking it easy, and want people to respect our privacy.’

Both brothers returned to the family home to be with their father.

Rachel and Omar met in a New York City hair salon in 1989, and then were engaged the following year.

Omar started off as a scout for the Texas Rangers;then, joined the Mets, as an assistant general manager, in the mid-1990s. In 2002, he rose to the role of Mets general manager through 2010. He worked in some other roles; until, he joined the Yankees as an executive adviser in 2023.
