Vikings Rookie And 2 Of His Friends Have Died In A Tragic Accident
Upcoming Minnesota Vikings cornerback Khyree Jackson has passed away at age 24.
Jackson was in his hometown of Upper Marlboro, Maryland when he died in a tragic car accident. His former Oregon coach has confirmed the news. The Maryland native played for Oregon in 2023. Previously, he spent two seasons in Alabama.
Per a report by On3, the car accident also took the lives of Jackson’s highschool teammates “AJ Lytton, who played at Penn State and Florida State in college, and Isaiah Hazel, who played for Maryland and Charlotte. The trio won state championships at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School (MD) in 2016.”
Law enforcement from Forestville Barrack responded to the crash in the predawn hours of July 6. Hazel and Jackson were reported deceased on the scene. Lytton was brought to a University of Maryland Hospital and was then pronounced dead by attending medical staff.
The Minnesota Vikings selected Jackson as the eighth pick in the fourth round of the NFL draft. He was number 108 overall, and the 14th selected cornerback selected from the draft. According to Sporting News, his recently signed 4-year contract is worth about $4.8 million.
Recently, Jackson attended rookie minicamp and really made a significant impression with the team. In a tribute post on X, Purple for The Win Podcast posted:
