Actor Ryan O’Neal was best known for starring in films including “Love Story,” “What’s Up, Doc?” and “Paper Moon.” He has many more credits to his name, both in film and TV. Throughout his acting career, he was nominated for multiple awards, including an Oscar nomination for “Love Story” and Golden Globes nominations for “Love Story” and “Paper Moon.”

Ryan’s son Patrick O’Neal broke the news that his father died today, December 8, 2023. In an Instagram post, he shared a picture of a sunset and a touching and emotional tribute to his father. He called his late father “a very generous man.” Then he referred to Ryan’s friends and family as “heartbroken” and listed many of the people close to him who are grieving today.

Patrick wrote, “This is just so hard for us. Ryan made such an impact and this will be difficult without him. This is and will be a huge void in our lives.”

Patrick continued, “I will share my father’s legacy forever.” He added, “My dad was 82, and he lived a kick ass life.”

He ended his post by mentioning his father’s relationship with the late actress Farrah Fawcett. Even though they never got married, they were together for about 20 years.

Patrick wrote, “Ryan never bragged. But he has bragging rights in Heaven. Especially when it comes to Farrah. Everyone had the poster, he had the real McCoy. And now they meet again. Farrah and Ryan. He has missed her terribly. What an embrace that must be. Together again.”

Ryan and Farrah both have stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and their stars are located right next to each other.

When Ryan received his star in 2021, he said, “I grew up around Hollywood Boulevard. I grew up on Holloway Drive in Hollywood and as a high school junior, I used to come to Hollywood Boulevard with my lads and look for fights and the girls. Who would have thought I would end up with a star on the Walk of Fame?”

Upon hearing the news of Ryan’s death, the Hollywood Walk of Fame announced that flowers will be put on his star.

Ryan was married two times, but both marriages ended in divorce. He is survived by his four children.
