On August 8, 2022, Olivia Newton-John lost her long battle with breast cancer. She was 73 years old. Her husband, John Easterling, announced the news on Newton-John’s Instagram account. He wrote that she “passed away peacefully” and that she was “a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer.”

Since her passing, several people have posted touching tributes to the Australian actress and singer including her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, who shared a video of a mother and daughter duet that was recorded in 2021.

Another tribute came from John Travolta who co-stared with Newton-John in the musical movie “Grease” where Newton-John played good girl Sandy, and Travolta played bad boy Danny. Travolta wrote on Instagram, “You made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much.”

Now, there’s another tribute to Newton-John that has gone viral, but it’s not from anyone that Newton-John knew personally. It’s from a country singer who posted a tribute on TikTok and later shared it on Instagram.

Kelsea Ballerini released her debut country album in 2015, and she made history by becoming “the only female country artist to hit #1 with her first three consecutive singles from a debut album.” Her album, “The First Time,” went platinum, and she followed it up with three more albums.

The same day Newton-John died, Ballerini posted a tribute to her. She sang an a cappella version of the song “Hopelessly Devoted to You” from “Grease,” a song that was once nominated for an Oscar. Ballerini captioned the post, “olivia newton-john forever.”

Many of Ballerini’s fans commented on the tribute, mourning Newton-John along with her. One person wrote, “what a beautiful tribute. what a sad day.”

Another follower commented, “Absolutely stunning. Rest peacefully.”

Another comment reads, “Kels, you did Olivia proud with these vocals! Wow! You are truly incredible, gifted, everything! It gave me chills!!”

Back in the 1970s, Newton-John was considered a country singer. In 1974, she even won CMA Female Vocalist of the Year.
