Tearful Jennifer Aniston Over The “Idea Of Losing” Matthew Perry

Jennifer Aniston breaks down in tears over the “idea of losing” Matthew Perry in a video interview from 2004 with Diane Sawyer. The video resurfaced in the wake of Matthew Perry’s death.

The tears came when Diane Sawyer asked Aniston what she thought each of her co-stars needed to hear. While she gave positive comments about her co-stars Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow, her mood changed and emotions spilled when talking about Matthew.

After telling Diane that Matthew needed to know that he would be “alright”, she dropped her head and began to sob while trying to get her words out.

“We didn’t know. We, you know, we weren’t equipped, we weren’t – to deal with it. You know, nobody had ever dealt with that and, you know, the idea of even losing him,” Anniston said.

Grabbing a tissue and dabbing tears from her eyes, Anniston added, “He’s having a rough road, but he is alright.”

In Mathew Perry’s memoir, he spoke of his Vicodin addiction and taking up to 55 pills a day during Friend’s third season.

On Monday the co-stars of Friends released a joint statment:

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.”

“There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able.

“For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

The autopsy on Matthew Perry has been conducted but the coroner is waiting on results from a toxicology report to determine if any foreign substances including drugs contributed to the actors death.

The Los Angeles police department is investigating the actors death but sources have told the media that no foul play is suspected.

Perry was found unresponsive in a hot tub according to law enforcement sources. The first call to 911 was placed Saturday at 4:07 PM for a water rescue. LAPD responded at 4:10 p.m. and characterized the call as a death investigation shortly after.
