Soap Star Rest In Peace

Actress Elizabeth Hubbard may be better known by the names of the characters she played on TV. Her two most famous roles were as Lucinda Walsh on “As the World Turns” and Dr. Althea Davis on “The Doctors.”

On Monday April 10, 2023, Hubbard’s son, Jeremy Bennett, shared the sad news that his mother has died. In a Facebook post, he posted a picture of his mother wearing a red dress, smiling at the camera. He wrote, “I’m sorry to say with a broken heart mi mum passed over the weekend. Thank you for being an unmovable rock that guided me through life. I will try to honour your memory for as long as I live.”

Bennett did not reveal a cause of death, but Hubbard was 89 years old.

Also on Monday, Hubbard’s TV daughter, Martha Byrne, shared a lengthy and touching tribute to Hubbard. She started the post by stating the sad facts, writing,”As many of you are finding out this morning, Elizabeth Hubbard passed away.”

Byrne continued the post by letting fans know that Byrne made sure Hubbard knew how much her fans cared about her. She wrote, “I would share your comments from social media, videos and your fond memories of her as Lucinda, Althea, every time I saw her. She loved the audience and fought like HELL to bring truth and honesty to her performances.”

Then Byrne wrote about how much Hubbard meant to her personally. She shared, “There aren’t words to describe how much she meant to me. Only feelings, which override words in so many cases when it comes to love.” She ended the post by adding, “I’ll miss her every day but grateful the universe gifted me with such a force of nature, of which the world will not see the likes of again.”

Hubbard is survived by her son.

Rest in peace.
