Once upon a time, Kody Brown, star of the reality TV show “Sister Wives,” had four wives. While that is highly unusual for many people where marriage only includes two people, in this show, the Browns call their marriage a plural marriage, and the wives are like sisters, thus sister wives.

Unfortunately for Kody, three of his wives decided that they no longer wanted to stay married to him, and the breakdown of the relationships all happened pretty quickly. His first wife, Christine, announced that she was leaving him in 2021. The following year, his second wife, Janelle, also left the family. In January 2023, his third wife, Meri, also decided to leave the marriage.

That left Robyn, the fourth wife as the only remaining wife in the family, and she’s not happy about it. She told PEOPLE that she hopes their family can be restored, but it’s not looking promising. Christine, Janelle and Meri don’t seem interested in coming back. In fact, in the video below, you can see Janelle tell Kody that she wants “to stay separated.”

During the special “Sister Wives: One on One special,” Janelle explained, “Kody and I have separated and I’m happy, really happy.” She added, “I don’t know, things just really became sort of indifferent, like I just didn’t care anymore.”

Janelle continued, explaining that the breakup “wasn’t heartbreaking.” She said, “It was just kind of like, I just mourned that that life was gone…. We had this great run.”

Kody doesn’t seem to want to work things out anymore either. In a teaser for the upcoming “Sister Wives: One on One special,” Kody says, “I was thinking to myself, I don’t ever want to talk to Janelle again.”

It seems that Robyn is the only one who wants the sister wives to come back. She tried to convince her husband to work things out with Janelle, telling him, “You have six kids, that’s worth fighting for.”

The last time Kody and Janelle saw each other in person was in May 2023 when they both attended their daughter, Savannah’s high school graduation.
