She Became A Singing Sensation At 13-Years-Old, But Today We Can’t Recognize Her

Some people go on singing competition shows like “American Idol” or “X Factor” and end up becoming household names. In fact, they become so famous that we almost forget what they looked like and sounded like back when they were on a singing competition show.

Then there are people who go on a singing competition show and impress the audience and judges so much that we’re sure they’re going to become a household name. We even picture ourselves buying their music in the not too distant future. However, years go by, and we don’t hear much about them. Then one day, we wonder what ever happened to them.

Carly Rose Sonenclar was just 13 years old when she went on “X Factor.” This was back in 2012. Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, L. A. Reid, and Simon Cowell were the judges.

When Sonenclar walked out on the “X Factor” stage, the judges were not prepared for her voice. Her performance was met with cheers from the audience and a standing ovation from all the judges including Cowell who declared, “A star has just walked out on that stage.”

Sonenclar ended up not winning the singing competition, and her fans still aren’t over it. One person commented, “It’s an actual crime that she didn’t win and I’m still not over it.”

Another comment reads, “In 2022 and I’m still watching this audition. This girl should have gone much further and be more recognized worldwide. She is a diamond.”

It has been 10 years since Sonenclar was on “X Factor.” Where is she now? She’s still singing, and she’s all grown up.

One of the songs Sonenclar sang on “X Factor” was “Brokenhearted.” Now, Sonenclar has released a full music video of “Brokenhearted” 10 years after singing it on “X Factor.” Watch an excerpt of her performance from 2012 and see her perform it 10 years later in the video below.

“Brokenhearted” may seem like an odd choice for a 13-year-old to sing. Sonenclar explained on Twitter how it came to be that she ended up singing “Brokenhearted” on “X Factor.”

Sonenclar is doing more than recreating performances from the past. In May, she released a single called “Afterglow.” Take a look in the video below.
