Shannen Made Surprising Last Big Life Change Only One Day Before Her Death
Shannen Doherty decided to finalize her divorce with ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko in the last remaining days of her life.
Shannen signed the papers on July 12, then Iswarienko signed the paperwork on July 13, this is on the exact day Shannen died at age 53.
Per court documents acquired by PEOPLE, the ‘90210’ star gave up on spousal support when she signed the document on July 12.
In addition, “The parties have entered into a written agreement regarding their property and their marriage or domestic partnership rights, including support, the original of which is being or has been submitted to the court,” the finalized divorce documents stated.
Previously back in June, Shannen was claiming Kurt was waiting for her to die from her terminal cancer; so, he doesn’t have to pay any spousal support.
“It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years,” she stated in the documents given to People.
Kurt is denying Shannen’s claim because he offered a settlement back in October 2023. However, the previous offering did not figure in proceeds from the photographer’s original photography works.
The star claimed Iswarienko is living a rich lifestyle. She asserted that she hasn’t received any of the couple’s money, their airplane, or use of their Texas vacation home.
“Kurt has been utilizing the airplane, spending thousands of dollars at medical spas, jewelry stores, Gucci, and on flights… while simultaneously claiming he has insufficient funds with which to support me,” Shannen stated in the filing.
Shannen and photographer Kurt Iswarienko were wed in 2011 and Shannen filed for divorce in April of 2023.
In 2015, Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer, a battle she shared with the public. Her openness about her diagnosis, treatment, and the emotional and physical challenges of the disease provided immense support and raised awareness about breast cancer. Despite periods of remission, Doherty announced in 2020 that her cancer had returned and progressed to stage IV.
