Sad Serena Williams News

Serena Williams is truly one of the tennis greats, but she has decided, at least for now, that her tennis career is over. While it’s sometimes hard for her to look at pictures of herself playing tennis, it’s also a clear decision for her that now is not the time for her to be playing tennis.

In an exclusive interview with “CBS Mornings” Gayle King, Williams revealed that she is choosing to prioritize her family over the sport of tennis. She explained that her daughter wants a sibling, and she wants that for herself and her daughter too.

King visited Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, at their farm in Florida. She was introduced to the animals on their farm and learned the history behind the cow’s long and unusual name. She also learned that for Ohanian, Williams is his “ride or die.”

While at the farm, King asked Williams about an upcoming Super Bowl commercial she was in. In the commercial, Williams plays golf, which left King wondering if Williams is planning to switch sports. The answer was a clear “no.” Williams isn’t stepping away from tennis for golf. She is simply choosing her family over tennis.

That doesn’t mean that Williams doesn’t play tennis at all. Her family’s farm has more than just animals. It also has a tennis court where she can enjoy playing tennis without the pressure of having to train. She explained, “I feel like I’m so happy, I don’t have to train for two hours today.”

During the interview, King also asked Williams about the film “King Richard” and about what went down at last year’s Oscars, you know, the slap heard round the world. Will Smith played Williams’ father in the film and won an Oscar for his role, but he also slapped Chris Rock on stage during the live broadcast. Williams doesn’t seem to be harboring any ill feelings about the dramatic situation. She said, “We’re all imperfect and we’re all human, and let’s just be kind to each other. And I think that’s so that’s often forgotten a lot.”
