In 2005, actress Lisa Bonet and actor Jason Momoa first met and started dating. They stayed together in a dating relationship for years before officially tying the knot in 2017.

While their relationship was long-lasting when they were dating, marriage was different. Just four years after they walked down the aisle, in 2021, the couple announced that they had separated. No update came from the couple about their marriage status until now.

Bonet, whose legal name is Lilakoi Moon, has filed for divorce from Momoa. According to the divorce documents, the couple’s marriage has actually been in trouble longer than they admitted publicly. The date of separation listed on the documents is October 2020, which is more than a year earlier than they announced that they were separated.

It sounds like the divorce might not be too messy and that Bonet and Momoa have already figured out how to split up their assets. According to The Hollywood Reporter, neither Bonet nor Momoa is requesting financial support. In addition, they also mentioned they already decided how to split up their assets.

The only messy thing about this divorce is that the couple has two children: a 16-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son. The divorce documents request joint custody.

We can’t know exactly why Bonet is filing divorce documents now after all this time. The reason listed on the documents is simply “irreconcilable differences.”

This was 44 year old Momoa’s first marriage. Bonet had previously been married to Lenny Kravitz. According to IMDB, they were married from 1987 to 1993, and they had one child together.

Bonet is best known for her role on “The Cosby Show” where she played Denise Huxtable, but she has also stared in quite a few other films and TV shows including “Angel Heart,” “High Fidelity” and “Enemy of State.”

Momoa may be better known as Aquaman, the character he portrayed in the films “Aquaman,” “Justice League,” “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” “Peacemaker,” “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” and “The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.” According to IMDB, he’s keeping busy with 5 upcoming projects.
