Sad Nat News

Actress Natalie Portman and her husband Benjamin Millepied, who is a dancer and filmmaker, have been married for almost 11 years after meeting on the set of “Black Swan.” Now, there’s trouble in paradise. One week ago, the French publication “Voici” claimed that sources say Millepied had an affair. A source told PEOPLE that the affair “was short-lived and it is over.”

Since the scandal broke, Millepied had not been seen in public until he showed up for a screening of the film “Carmen” at the Pathe cinema in Paris, France. “Carmen” marks Millepied’s directorial debut.

Reportedly, Portman and Millepied are still together despite the scandal. The source who spoke to PEOPLE explained, “He knows he made an enormous mistake and he is doing all he can to get Natalie to forgive him and keep their family together.” Portman and Millepied have two children together, 12 year old Aleph and 6 year old Amalia.

The source added, “Natalie is incredibly private and has no intention of playing this out in the media. Her biggest priority is protecting her children and their privacy.”

Just a few days prior to “Voici” breaking the scandal, Portman and Millepied were seen together in Paris, kissing at dinner together and attending a French Open match.

A source told US Weekly that Portman felt “humiliated” when she found out about her husband’s affair, which was reportedly with a younger woman. Portman is 41, and Millepied is 45.

According to the source, Portman still wants the marriage to work. The source explained, “Natalie believes Benjamin’s affair was a brief and stupid liaison that means nothing to him.” The source added that Portman  is “willing to see if she’s capable of rebuilding her trust” in Millepied and keeping her family together because she doesn’t want her children to “grow up in a broken home.”

A second source who spoke to US Weekly isn’t so confident that Portman and Millepied’s marriage will be able to survive the affair. This source explained, “Right now, they are talking and working on it together for the sake of their children.” This source added that Portman “doesn’t know” if her relationship with her husband can be fixed, but Millepied does “regret” what he did.
