December is officially here, and holiday cheer is in the air!

To celebrate the most wonderful time of the year, CBS will be airing holiday specials throughout the month. From nostalgic films to Christmas-themed broadcasts of your favorite shows, you’re sure to find something to get you in the spirit.

On Dec. 1st, the network will air “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” — a classic musical about a shy reindeer whose shiny nose makes him the laughingstock of Christmasville. The 1964 film is narrated by Burl Ives, who plays the character of Sam the Snowman, and is based on the popular song of the same name written by Johnny Marks. 

The Rankin-Bass creation has long been a holiday favorite, and continues to bring joy to generations of children who tune in from their couches with their eyes all aglow. In the film, Rudolph is initially shunned for being different, and finds solace when he meets fellow misfits. 

Rudolph flees from home after being mocked for his red nose. During his travels, he meets Hermey, an elf who’s escaped the North Pole to pursue his dream of becoming a dentist. The pair then encounters prospector Yukon Cornelius, who helps them outsmart the Abominable Snowmonster. 

The heartwarming classic is the perfect film to kick off the month, and will also air on Dec. 13, if you can’t catch the first airing (or need a double dose). The film will air at 8 p.m. EST on both dates.

If you have the Freeform cable channel, you can catch “Rudolph” on Dec. 5, 6, 19 and 20, as well as on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as part of the “25 Days of Christmas”.
