Actor Known For His Roles In ‘Saving Private Ryan’, ‘Heat’, ‘Black Hawk Down’ And More Dies At 61

On February 19th, 2023, actor Tom Sizemore, who was best known for his role in the film “Saving Private Ryan,” collapsed in his Los Angeles home. He was taken to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California, where doctors discovered that he suffered from a brain aneurysm. 

On February 27th, his manager, Charles Lago, announced that doctors had asked Sizemore’s family to make an “end-of-life decision.” He explained that Sizemore’s family was “deciding end of life matters.”

Sizemore’s family ending up deciding to take him off of life support. On Friday March 3rd, Sizemore died in his hospital bed with his brother, Paul Sizemore, and his twin sons, Jayden and Jagger, at his bedside.

Lago released a statement explaining, “It is with great sadness and sorrow I have to announce that actor Thomas Edward Sizemore (‘Tom Sizemore’) aged 61 passed away peacefully in his sleep today at St Joseph’s Hospital Burbank.”

Sizemore was 61 years old.

Paul Sizemore said about this brother, “I am deeply saddened by the loss of my big brother Tom.” He added, “He was larger than life. He has influenced my life more than anyone I know. He was talented, loving, giving and could keep you entertained endlessly with his wit and storytelling ability. I am devastated he is gone and will miss him always.”

Sizemore’s acting career took off in the 1990s and continued to flourish into the early 2000s. His credits include “Heat,” “The Relic,” “Saving Private Ryan,” “Red Planet,” “Pearl Harbor,” “Black Hawk Down,” and the series “Robbery Homicide Division.” In addition, in more recent years, he acted in quite a long list of straight to DVD movies.

Sizemore had suffered from drug addition since his teenage years. In 2007, there was a docuseries about Sizemore’s attempt to break his addiction called “Shooting Sizemore.”
