On Tuesday, US Weekly reported an update on Kate Middleton. The article indicates Kate’s role may not be the same as in the past, following her cancer treatment. Her role may not be as in the public eye working side by side with Prince William, engaging in royal duties.
This may seem contradictory, because Kate has been seen out and about both solo and with family. Kate is still in the middle of chemotherapy cancer treatments. An insider told US Weekly, ““She’s been an active parent.”
Another source said, “Kate’s recovery is going well. She’s not able to see many people because she is susceptible to getting sick and they don’t want her compromised, but she’s up and about.” The source added that Kate is “reevaluating what she’s going to be able to take on when she comes back,” continuing with “She may never come back in the role that people saw her in before.”
Earlier this year Princess Kate Middleton had abdominal surgery. Afterwards, it was discovered that she had cancer. While the surgery most likely got all of the cancer, she is still undergoing preventative chemotherapy treatments.
During her recovery, Kate is not performing royal duties. Instead, she is choosing to completely focus on making a full recovery.
Originally, the official message was that Kate wouldn’t return to her royal duties or make public appearances until after Easter. Now, it sources close to Buckingham Palace have told The Daily Beast that the princess “may not appear in public for the rest of the year.”
The rest of the royal family will also be taking a step back from royal appearances over the next six weeks due to an election that will take place on July 4, 2024. They are choosing to step back so they don’t distract from the election. That also means that Prince William can prioritize his family while his wife focuses on her recovery.
According to a source, “Lots of people involved in planning need to know what all the principals are doing a long way in advance. I am told that Kate’s diary for this year is empty. There is nothing planned. She may not appear in public for the rest of the year.”
The Daily Mail reports that the princess’s friends don’t expect her to make any public appearances until fall, but they stress that it’ll be even later than that if she has yet to make a full recovery.
Another source explained, “No one wants to put any pressure on Catherine. The only thing that matters at the moment is her getting better. She has been through an ordeal this year.”
According to the source that spoke to The Daily Beast, we may see another video message from the princess to explain her current health situation. The source explained, “I would not rule out another video message updating the country on her health. That proved to be a very effective way of keeping the conspiracy theorists at bay.”
A friend of William and Kate explained that the princess is confiding in her birth family more than her friends and that her parents and siblings have been visiting her recently. The friend explained, “They are an incredibly tight family, and Catherine feels absolutely confident relying on them. They have been there for her for decades and never let her down.”
