Prince Harry Unveiled His New Role As A Post-Royal Statesman; And Then, Someone Stole His Spotlight

Prince Harry has been busy, but if his accomplishments aren’t getting the headlines they deserve, he can blame his wife.

According to Page Six, Harry was one of the speakers at the Clinton Global Initiative summit in New York City this past Tuesday. While he was there, he talked backstage with many of the other speakers including Dr. Jane Goodall, the Clinton family and Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Steve Jobs. He also gave a moving speech on stage about the dangers of social media for children.

Sources told Page Six that Harry’s goal is to be viewed as a statesman and a philanthropist; however, he has a ways to go to be viewed that way. One source said, “Harry has got a long way to go to be remotely on the same level as Matt Damon. He’s not yet viewed as a statesman – or as a celebrity who has really made a huge philanthropic impact.”

The insider added, “He’s not like Jennifer Garner [or] Sophia Bush – those are real social impact activists.”

Meanwhile, back in California, Meghan’s own drama took the spotlight off of Harry. You see, she was countering a Hollywood Reporter article that described her as a horrible person. In the article, a former employee who worked with the Sussex’s says, “Everyone’s terrified of Meghan. She belittles people, she doesn’t take advice.”

The inside lumped Harry in with Meghan as well claiming, “They’re both poor decision-makers, they change their minds frequently.” The insider added, “Harry is a very, very charming person—no airs at all—but he’s very much an enabler. And she’s just terrible.”

According to sources who spoke to Page Six, Harry and Meghan are both upset about the article and claim the accusations are “false.”

As a counter attack, multiple former staff members spoke to US Weekly about their experiences working with Meghan, and the US Weekly article was published the same day Harry spoke at the Clinton Global Initiative summit.

Ben Browning, who was their former head of content, claims that working for the couple “was positive and supportive.” He claims that they are still “friends.”

In addition, former chief of staff Catherine St-Laurent said, “The time I spent working with Prince Harry and Meghan was incredibly meaningful to me.” She added that she “remained close” to the couple.

Josh Kettler, who used to be Harry’s chief of staff, called the couple “dedicated and hardworking.” He added, “It was impressive to witness.”

Do you believe the Hollywood Reporter story, or do you believe the insiders who spoke to US Weekly? Do you think the US Weekly counter attack was intentionally planned to happen the same time as Harry’s speech?
