Prince Harry Has Launched His First Major Project Since His Royal Exit

We knew Prince Harry couldn’t stay away for long. For the first time after he and wife Meghan Markle decided to take a step back from their royal duties several months ago, the Duke of Sussex has just launched his first major project—and it’s a pretty awesome one.

While the project has been in the works for about three years along with the Ministry of Defense and The Royal Foundation’s campaign, Heads Together, now seemed like the perfect time to officially get it out into the world.

The initiative is called HeadFIT, and it’s a digital resource for military workers to help them with their mental fitness.

First of all, what is mental fitness? Well, it has nothing to do about the standard physical fitness—you know, like being able to lift heavy weights or endure long runs. Being mentally fit has more to do with strength and resilience, which is exactly what this program can help people do.

“I’ve long believed the military community should lead the way for the rest of society. For too long we have been waiting for problems to arise and then reacting to them,” Harry said in a statement. “HeadFIT is a proactive approach to mental fitness, focusing on our own potential to increase our performance, using proven methods in sport science.”

At a time like now, we could all use a little help managing the daily stresses of everyday life, can’ we? We’re all a little groggy in the head, and this platform includes a range of self-help tools meant to boost people’s moods, motivation, and confidence, which can be accessed 24/7, around the clock.

“This is about optimization of self. This is about being the best you can be. This is about gaining advantage, whether facing an opponent or overcoming a challenging situation,” Prince Harry stated. “This is about building resilience that will match that of the most world class athletes and prepare you for everyday stress. To be HeadFIT, is to be at your peak performance.”

So what are the benefits of being mentally fit? The HeadFIT website goes into depth about the science behind it all. In one of their examples, they talk about the notion of waking up in a bad mood for no reason—something everyone has endured in their lives before. Typically in that situation, you might let the mood linger, even if you don’t know why, and have yourself a rough day.

Being mentally fit can help you get on the path to turning that mood around and getting into a more positive mindset to go  . “We can make decisions about what we can and can’t do,” it states on their website. “It sounds simple but it’s extraordinarily effective.”

What a neat initiative to launch during this strange and challenging time for many! To hear more about it from Prince Harry, check out the video below.
