Popular Actor Who Appeared In Almost 200 Movies And TV Shows, Has Passed Away
Bill Cobbs, an actor known for his extensive work in film, television, and theater has died at 90 years old. The actor died Tuesday night in his Riverside, California home. His cause of death has not been revealed.
Before pursuing his acting career, Cobbs served in the United States Air Force as a radar technician. He began his acting career relatively late, starting in regional theater productions before moving to New York to pursue professional acting opportunities.
His brother posted the sad news to Facebook on June 26.
“We are saddened to share the passing of Bill Cobbs. On Tuesday, June 25, Bill passed away peacefully at his home in California. A beloved partner, big brother, uncle, surrogate parent, godfather and friend, Bill recently and happily celebrated his 90th birthday surrounded by cherished loved ones. As a family we are comforted knowing Bill has found peace and eternal rest with his Heavenly Father. We ask for your prayers and encouragement during this time.”
Bill Cobbs had a Hollywood career spanning five decades. Some of his popular film roles included “Demolition Man” (1993), “The Bodyguard” (1992), and “Night at the Museum” (2006).
Some of his TV credits include “The Sopranos”, “The Others”, “The West Wing”, and “One Tree Hill”.
Cobbs is known for his versatility and has portrayed a wide range of characters, from wise mentors to stern authority figures. He has a distinctive presence and voice that has made him a memorable figure in both supporting and leading roles.
In his later years, he won an Emmy Award for playing the elderly neighbor in the Children’s TV Show “Dino Dana”.
