In New Interview, Paris Hilton Opens Up About Being Drugged And Raped When She Was 15

You may knew Paris Hilton as the seemingly dumb blond from the reality show “The Simple Life.” You may have heard (or seen) the sex tape that an ex-boyfriend released of her. You may think she’s had an easy life, been handed everything and and isn’t too bright. Hilton would probably understand why people would feel that way, but as she explains in her memoir, the documentary about her life and a recent interview with Glamour, those assumptions about her are very wrong.

First of all, Hilton is not a dumb blond. In the Glamour article, Hilton explained that the character she played in “The Simple Life” was inspired by her thoughts about actress Marilyn Monroe, country singer Dolly Parton and the famous Barbie doll. She was putting on her own version of these characters. Her voice isn’t even naturally as high and babyish as she pretended it was on that show.

The character Hilton portrayed was one she made up during boarding school. She was physically and mentally abused during her teen years at Provo Canyon school, and when she was in solitary confinement for refusing to take the pills they tried to force her to take, she dreamt up the dumb blond character and used it as a way to cope with the trauma she endured.

Prior to her boarding school days, when she was just 15 years old, it turns out that Hilton had other traumatic experiences. One she told Glamour about happened when she and a friend hung out with some older guys at the Century City mall. She explained, “And then one day, they invited us to their house and we’re drinking these berry wine coolers.” She added, “I didn’t drink or anything back then, but then when I had maybe one or two sips, I just immediately started feeling dizzy and woozy. I don’t know what he put in there, I’m assuming it was a roofie.”

She woke up hours later realizing her friend was gone and having flashbacks of being raped – her first sexual encounter. She said, “I remembered it. I have visions of him on top of me, covering my mouth, being like, ‘You’re dreaming, you’re dreaming,’ and whispering that in my ear.”

Even though her childhood and teen years were full of painful moments she doesn’t like to think about, Hilton has chosen to move forward and is creating a really great life for herself. She is now happily married to Carter Reum, and the two welcomed a baby boy together, who was delivered via surrogate last month.
