One Year After Sinead O’Connor Passed Away, More Details Revealed About Her Exact Cause Of Death
One year after music legend Sinead O’Connor died in London, her exact cause of death has been determined.
Per several reports, her death certificate stated the musician’s death was caused by asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Another contributing factor to Sinead’s death was that she had been fighting a respiratory tract infection at the time of her death.
In January, Tiphero posted that FOX News Digital had received confirmation from the Southwark Coroners Court about her official cause of death. According to John Thompson, a clerk at the court, her cause of death is simply “natural causes.” Since her death was determined to be natural, “the coroner has therefore ceased their involvement in her death.” Thompson did not provide any other details related to what may have caused O’Conner’s death.
On July 26, 2023, Irish singer Sinead O’Connor was found dead. The police did not suspect foul play but took their time investigating her death. She was only 56 years old and planned an upcoming international tour in 2024 and 2025.
The day she died, her family announced the sad news of her death in a statement. They shared, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
O’Connor’s biggest hits were in the 1990s. Among her most famous songs is “Nothing Compares 2 U,” written by Prince and is on her album “I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got.”
O’Connor’s musical style evolved over the years, incorporating different musical styles like folk, rock, reggae, and traditional Irish music. She released several more albums, including “Am I Not Your Girl?” (1992), “Universal Mother” (1994), and “Faith and Courage” (2000). O’Connor’s personal life was marked by struggles with mental health issues. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and often spoke about her battles with depression and suicidal thoughts. Despite these challenges, she remained a vocal advocate for mental health awareness.

For example, in 1992, when she was a musical guest on “Saturday Night Live,” she performed the Bob Marley song “War.” Afterwards, she ripped up a picture of Pope John Paul II while looking at the camera and saying, “Fight the real enemy.” That stunt got her banned from “Saturday Night Live” for life.
O’Conner had four children; but,is only survived by three of her children, Jake, Roisin and Yeshua. Her son Shane committed suicide in 2022. He was only 17 years old.
