Old Farmer’s Almanac Predicts What the Rest of Our Winter Will Be Like

While many people cross their fingers for a picture perfect white Christmas, and while kids love snow days from school, we can probably all agree that winter weather isn’t always simply pretty and fun. It can be dangerous to drive in, and it can make life terribly inconvenient not to mention cold.

If you’re wondering whether or not you need to brace yourself for a winter full of snow, ice and sleet, we have a fairly reliable prediction for you from the Old Farmer’s Almanac. We say fairly reliable because there is no guarantee. As you know if you ever look at the extended weather forecast, things can change. With that said, here’s what you can expect based on where you live.

If you live in Canada, get ready for a cold, snowy winter. That’s probably not much of a surprise. Doesn’t it snow a lot in Canada every year?

For those of us in the United States, there’s pretty good news. Most of the United States will actually experience a warmer than usual winter. Many states will have much more rain than snow or snow that quickly melts. This is good news if you like warmer weather but bad news if your children were hoping to build lots of snowmen.

Don’t get too excited yet. There are multiple states that are going to be hit hard by winter storms in 2021. This is mainly limited to northern New England, like Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. There will also be a fair amount of snow in northern Michigan, Wisconsin and Alaska.

Although there probably won’t be snow, there are other parts of the country that will experience chillier than usual weather such as in the southwest and Hawaii; although, chilly in Hawaii is probably still warmer than most of the country.

Much of the country will be getting more rain than snow, and some states will experience more rain than usual. These states include Georgia, North Carolina and Florida.

Speaking of Florida, allow us to pause for a second and focus on what the Old Farmer’s Almanac wrote about Florida on the winter weather map. While the weather in some states is described as “It’s Snow Time” or “Sheets of Sleet,” in Florida, the weather is simply described as “Gorgeous.” Sounds like if you want to plan a winter getaway, Florida might be the best place within the United States to visit.

What’s the weather going to be like in your state? Do you like cold, snowy weather? Does this weather prediction surprise you in any way?
