More Bad News For Good Morning America Host

Inside Edition

When the water cooler gossip turned into public news that Good Morning America co-hosts T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach were having an affair, ABC news temporarily pulled them both off the air. At the time, ABC News President, Kim Godwin, explained that although the affair was not a violation of company policy, the co-hosts were pulled off the air because the scandal was a distraction and she wanted everyone to “stay focused on the work.”

At the time, Robach was said to be in the final stages of divorcing her husband, Andrew Shue. Meanwhile, Holmes was separated from his wife, Marilee Fiebig, but apparently, the affair was a huge shock to her. Now, perhaps more or less of a shock – Holmes has filed for divorce from his wife after 13 years of marriage. Holmes’ decision to divorce his wife is due to his affair with Robach.

According to a source who spoke to PEOPLE, Robach and Holmes started dating each other in August after they each broke things off with their spouses. Holmes separated from his wife within weeks of Robach filing for divorce from her husband, and they didn’t start dating until after that. The source explained, “This was two consenting adults who were each separated.” The source added, “They both broke up with their spouses in August within weeks of each other. The relationship didn’t start until after that.”

This source admits that Robach and Holmes have been close friends for a long time, but it was nothing more than a close friendship until recently. The source said, “They joked how good their chemistry was, but they shut it down and made it clear they were each going through their own stuff and there was nothing between them. She and T.J. just did things together all the time. Her daughter babysat for his daughter. They were open about it. Their lives were intertwined because of work and they were best friends, so when their marriages ended, he was there for her and it was a very natural transition.”

According to one source, many people who worked for GMA knew about the affair before it became public knowledge. The source said, “There were so many people internally that were unhappy about it.” According to the source, the pair were often “flirtatious” at work.

Holmes and Robach have yet to return to GMA. They will “remain off-air pending the completion of an internal review.”
