On November 9, 2024, a woman named Mary Beth Blasetti was riding as a passenger in a golf cart near a members-only golf course in Maryland. An unidentified woman was driving the golf cart.

Tragedy struck while they were in the golf cart in what is currently believed to be a tragic accident. CBS News reports that according to police, the golf cart hit some sort of dip which caused Blasetti to be thrown from the golf cart.

She was airlifted to the hospital, but two days later, on November 11th, she lost the battle for her life. She was only 32 years old. She leaves behind her husband, Nick Blasetti, and her two-month old daughter Mary Katharine Blasetti.

Justin Mulcahy, a representative for the Anne Arundel County Police Department, shared, “This is an extremely tragic, unfortunate situation. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted and we’re going to continue investigating it with the State’s Attorney’s Office just to determine what exactly happened here.”

According to a GoFundMe that was set up to support Blasetti’s husband and newborn daughter, the Blasettis recently bought a house in Annapolis, Maryland, and their daughter was just born in September.

Her friends remember her as “a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.” They describe her death as “devastating.”

Just four days after staring the online fundraiser, it has already reached 91% of it’s goal of $350,000.

On her online obituary, friends and family left pictures of Blasetti as well as pictures of flowers. They also shared fond memories of the new mother.

One friend wrote, “We have had the privilege of knowing Mary Beth for over a decade. She has always graced us with a beautiful smile and a positive loving spirit! As one of my daughter’s group of best friends, we have witnessed all of them graduate high school, successfully complete college and move into a wonderful careers! All the way this group has stayed best friends celebrating great relationships, marriages and motherhood! We will be forever grateful for sharing in all the happiness!”

Another friend wrote, “I cannot even imagine such a tremendous loss…”
