Model, Actress, And Ex-Wife Of Actor Forest Whitaker Dies At 51

UPDATE: Cause of death determined.

TMZ reports that Keisha Whitaker’s death certificate, released by Los Angeles County, lists “alcoholic liver disease” as the immediate cause. The document notes that Keisha suffered from the disease for years before she died.

The death certificate also lists “acute renal failure” as a condition contributing to her death — said to be a result of anorexia.

Actress and model Keisha Nash Whitaker may be best known for her roles in the films “Proud” and “Kassim the Dream,” or she may be better known for her personal life. She was the ex-wife of actor Forest Whitaker.

Keisha and Forest had three children during their marriage, which lasted from 1996 until their divorce in 2021. Unfortunately, now, Keisha’s youngest daughter, True Whitaker, is sharing the sad news that her mother has died. She was only 51 years old.

In her Instagram Stories, True announced the sad news by writing a heartfelt tribute to her mother, “goodbye mommy. I love you 4ever and beyond. the most beautiful woman in the world … thank you for teaching me every single thing I know. I’ll see you in my dreams and I’ll feel you in my heart.”

Although an official cause of death has yet to be released publicly, a source who spoke to The Daily Mail believes that her death may have been a result of her battle with anorexia. The source claims that Kiesha had been in the hospital off and on during the past few months as a result of intestinal problems that may have been caused by her struggle with anorexia. According to the source, “Keisha battled anorexia for years.”

Keisha and Forest met in 1994 while working together on the film “Blown Away.” It didn’t take him long to propose, and two years later, in 1996, Forest and Keisha married in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

In 2018, Forest filed for divorce from Keisha, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Despite the divorce, the couple “remained friends” and Forest consider Keisha “kind, funny bright and out – going, as well as a good mother to their children.”

The source explained, “Forest continued to have a great deal of respect for Keisha following their divorce in 2021.” The source claims, “He’s taking her death really hard.”
