Missing Grandfather Miguel Hung’s body has been found almost two weeks after he disappeared. Per the police, Miguel Gabriel Hung was found dead about 5 miles from his house at almost 4 a.m. on August 20.
The 71-year-old Grandpa from Raleigh, North Carolina went missing sometime between late August 9 and early August 10 per an article by PEOPLE.
The Raleigh Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in finding the subject below. Miguel Gabriel Hung was last seen at his residence on Tealwood Pl. Hung left his house without his wallet or cell phone. He drove away in his wife Pamela’s silver Mercedes. His family spent days out in the local community searching for Miguel.The family posted flyers and talked to the local news networks. Also, they used a private helicopter to help with the search.
Police didn’t find any suspicious circumstances about his death. Further details were not available.
“Sometimes you find beauty in the world,” Mike, his son, said to PEOPLE. “Family and friends reaching out, sharing stories, it definitely helps the healing.”
Miguel left Cuba at age 14. In 2019, Miguel developed some health issues. He had a heart attack and bypass surgery and a stroke in 2021. This led to some mental health challenges.
Following the stroke, he started having aphasia episodes. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Aphasia is a disorder that affects how you communicate. It can impact your speech, as well as the way you write and understand both spoken and written language.” Aphasia usually comes after a stroke or head injury.
Mike described his dad to People as the kind of man who was always there for friends, family, and his wife of 45 years.
“He never missed a soccer game, growing up,” Mike said.
Mike adds that he recently heard from a former childhood teammate who told him,
Mike said one of his friends from his youth told him recently “Your dad was always our favorite soccer dad.”
Mike added, “My dad was an incredible guy.”
