Nicknamed “The Mexican Kim Kardashian”, Instagram Star Dies At 30

There are certain types of medical procedures that are literally life and death. If a person doesn’t get the procedure done, they will not survive. If the procedure doesn’t go perfectly, they also may not survive.

Then, there are other procedures that people sometimes choose to have done for cosmetic reasons. One of these procedures is called a Brazilian butt lift. This particular type of surgery involves taking fat from one part of the body and relocating it to the persons buttocks.

Reportedly, late Instagram influencer Joselyn Cano, who was known as the Mexican Kim Kardashian, traveled to Columbia in early December 2020 to get a Brazilian butt lift. Apparently, the surgery was also the cause of her death at the young age of 30.

Besides having over 12 million followers, Cano also had her own swimwear brand called Joselyn Cano Swimwear. Fans were critical of the swim brand when they didn’t acknowledge the death of the person whose name was on the brand. While the brand’s Instagram account didn’t have any new posts between December 8th and December 17th, they never directly mentioned what happened to Cano.

Meanwhile, fans claimed that Cano’s funeral was available to view on YouTube. The 1 hour and 40 minute YouTube video started with text reading, “On Wednesday December 16, 2020, family and friends are gathering at Grimes – Akes Funeral Home to celebrate the life of Joselyn Cano.” The funeral was held in Cornoa, California, roughly an hour from her home base in Newport Beach, California.  According to the YouTube video’s description, Cano died on December 7, 2020.

Many viewers of the YouTube video of her funeral turned to the comments to offer condolences and to share how heartbreaking they believe it is for her to die because of a cosmetic procedure that she really didn’t need. One comment reads, “This is heartbreaking. This girl was phenomenally beautiful she didn’t need ANY surgery at all :( social media is killing us, literally. And to think I bet all her 12 million IG followers probably could care less and are swiping through a new influencers photos as if this women was dust in the wind.”

Model Lisa Mercer was the first to break the news of Cano’s untimely death. She tweeted, “Omg Joselyn Cano died in Colombia getting surgery. That’s wild.”

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 1 in 3000 people die after getting a Brazilian Butt Lift.
