Maria Menounos Reveals More Sad News Details

Entertainment reporter Maria Menounos has been through a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows this past year. In January 2023, she publicly announced that she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. In April of this year, she also announced that she and her husband Keven Undergaro were expecting their first child.

Originally, Menounos shared the cancer was discovered via an MRI in November 2022, but it turns out it wasn’t quite that easy. On July 4th, on Amanda Hirsch’s “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast, Menounos revealed that she wasn’t actually informed about the cancer in November. Doctors didn’t notice it on the November scan, but two months later, it was a lump of “almost four centimeters.”

When doctors went back to look at the scan from November, they found the lump which at that time had only been two centimeters. As Menounos put it, “It had doubled in size in two months.”

Menounos was terrified when she first found out. She asked her doctor, “I’m a goner, right?” Thankfully, that wasn’t the case. She had surgery in February, and it seems that the doctors were successfully able to remove all of the cancer.

The lesson Menounos has learned since is “different scans have the ability to see different things better.”

Now, Menounos can relax and focus on preparing for her new baby. In April, on Heal Squad, she shared the news that she is having a baby girl. She even shared what she bought as her daughter’s very first toy.

The baby will be born via a surrogate. As Menounos shared, she and her husband had a very hard time conceiving a child, and finally something worked. In the video, which Menounos shared on Instagram, Undergaro teased about what the baby’s name might be; although, Menounos claims they aren’t going to reveal the baby’s real name just yet.
