On January 12, 2023, Lisa Marie Presley suffered from cardiac arrest and died at the hospital. According to TMZ’s sources, Lisa Marie had complained about abdominal pain that morning before suffering from cardiac arrest. Otherwise, no details were known.

While Lisa Marie’s cause of death won’t be official until after the results of a toxicology report, which could be a few months from now, there is new evidence that she was on opioids and weight loss pills.

According to a family source who spoke to TMZ, Lisa Marie wanted to look her best while attending the awards shows honoring the movie about her father’s life, “Elvis.” Approximately two months before The Golden Globes, Lisa Marie had plastic surgery. She also started taking weight loss pills and dropped about 40 to 50 pounds in just six weeks. In addition, she was taking opioids. She had struggled with opioid addiction for years.

Billy Bush interviewed Lisa Marie before The Golden Globes. Bush told FOX 11 Los Angeles that he was on a platform that was two flights up from the red carpet, and he invited Lisa Marie to join him. He tried to help her up the stairs but “it was clear” she wasn’t going to be able to handle walking up the two flights, so he walked down to the red carpet instead.

During the interview, Lisa Marie had to hold the arm of her friend who was with her, and according to Bush, “She was very uneven in her balance. The speech was very slow. And, definitely, when the interview was over, I turned to my producer next to me and said, ‘Something’s off here.’”

Bush was pretty sure something was going on with Lisa Marie, but he never expected her to die just two days later. He explained that during the interview, “She was cognizant. She was certainly with it just a second slow.” He added that considering the level of fame she was born into as Elvis Presley’s daughter, he believes that “a lot of life was a struggle” for her and that were was “a lot of pain and a lot of loss.”
