Kevin Costner’s Wife Files For Divorce

After 18 years of marriage, Kevin Costner’s second wife, Christine Costner has filed for divorce. According to TMZ, Christine simply claimed “irreconcilable differences” when she filed for divorce.

It seems that Kevin isn’t too happy about the divorce. In a statement, his representative explained, “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.”

Both Christine and Kevin are asking for joint custody of their three children, 15 year old Cayden, 14 year old Hayes and 12 year old Grace.

Kevin’s representative is asking that “privacy be respected” for the former couple and their children “as they navigate this difficult time.”

This is not the first time Kevin’s marriage will end in divorce. In fact, when he first met Christine, he was still technically married to his first wife, Cindy Silva. Their divorce proceedings ended up costing Kevin a lot of money. Reportedly, Kevin had to pay $80 million. This time around, the couple has a prenup.

Kevin and Cindy split up in 1994, but when Kevin first met Christine in 1996, the divorce had yet to be finalized. Two years later, in 1998, Kevin and Christine crossed paths again, and they ended up getting married in 2004. Their wedding was held at Kevin’s 160 acre ranch in Aspen, Colorado.

It seems that whatever troubles led to the divorce happened fairly recently. Back in 2020, Kevin spoke highly of his wife and explained that the Covid-19 pandemic actually strengthened their relationship. At the time, he told People, “Our partnership has really come into focus about what we do for each other and how we deal with our family.”

Besides Kevin’s three children with Christine, he also has three adult children from his previous marriage.

Does it surprise you that Kevin and Christine are getting divorced after 18 years of marriage? Do you think they will both eventually remarry?
