NFL stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes faced unexpected disruptions off the field last month when their Kansas City-area homes were reportedly targeted by burglars. The break-ins occurred just days apart, adding tension in the lead-up to the Chiefs’ Oct. 7 game against the New Orleans Saints.

The first break-in was reported at Patrick Mahomes’ estate in Belton, Missouri, around midnight on Oct. 6. According to a police report obtained by Page Six, Mahomes’ bodyguard called in the incident shortly after discovering signs of an intrusion. However, it remains unclear what, if anything, was stolen from the three-time Super Bowl champion’s home.

Mahomes, 29, lives at the estate with his wife, Brittany, who is pregnant, and their two young children, Sterling (3) and Bronze (1). Mahomes was reportedly out celebrating Kelce’s 35th birthday on Oct. 5, potentially explaining his absence at the time of the break-in. There’s no confirmation on whether Brittany or the children were home when the incident occurred.

Just two days after the Mahomes’ break-in, Kelce’s mansion in Leawood, Kansas, was also burglarized. According to TMZ, the robbery happened around 7:30 p.m., just as the Chiefs were preparing for their game against the Saints. During this incident, thieves reportedly stole $20,000 in cash and caused damage to Kelce’s back door.

Despite the high-profile nature of the break-in, Kelce’s friends and family were unlikely to be present, as many were attending the Chiefs game and the post-game celebrations. Among the attendees at Kelce’s birthday festivities was his girlfriend, singer Taylor Swift. According to sources, Swift hosted an intimate gathering for Kelce and his loved ones following the game.

While burglaries in upscale neighborhoods are rare, authorities suspect these two incidents may be part of a broader crime wave. Investigators from the FBI and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office are working together to explore potential connections between these break-ins and other crimes in the area. Law enforcement sources suggest that the burglaries might be tied to an organized crime ring that operates beyond Missouri state lines.

Both homes have high-security systems, and Kelce’s mansion, in particular, boasts a gated community location, which reportedly influenced his purchase decision. Still, these recent events demonstrate the vulnerability even high-profile figures face despite their precautions.

Both Mahomes and Kelce have invested significantly in their properties, aiming for a sense of security and privacy. Mahomes purchased his sprawling estate in 2020, transforming the eight-acre property into a personal oasis, complete with amenities like a basketball court, par-3 golf hole, and football field. Meanwhile, Kelce acquired his $6 million mansion last year to offer himself and Swift added seclusion and protection amid his rising fame and their high-profile relationship.

Neither Mahomes nor Kelce has publicly addressed the burglaries. Their representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. However, fans and residents alike hope the investigation leads to a resolution that restores peace of mind for the athletes and their families.
