Johnny Depp has been in the media a lot this year for nothing to do with upcoming movies or television. He wasn’t in the news because he was promoting an upcoming project. Instead, he was in the news because he was in court. He ended up winning in the defamation case where he claimed his ex-wife, Amber Heard, ruined his career with an op-ed she once wrote.

There has been speculation about whether or not Depp’s career will be able to rebound after the court case. For example, will he or will he not reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in another “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie? Only time will tell, but we do know that he has dressed as Capt. Jack recently, and it was for a good cause.

Kori is a huge fan of “The Pirates of the Caribbean” and Jack Sparrow. He is also an 11-year-old boy who has had to undergo multiple heart surgeries. In addition, he has a YouTube channel with close to 200,000 subscribers.

According to a source close to Depp, the Make-A-Wish Foundation reached out to Depp to make a special request, and Depp came through.

On December 11, 2022, on Kori’s YouTube channel, Kraken The Box, Kori shared, “Captain Jack Sparrow sent me a message!” In the video message, Depp is dressed as Jack Sparrow, and he is completely in character. He calls Kori “Captain Kori” in the video, and he pretends to be unfamiliar with what YouTube is. Even though he admits that he doesn’t understand YouTube, he tells Kori that he “shall be glad to follow your YouTube channel and I shall tell all my friends to follow your Youtube channel.” He added, “I wish you the best of luck. I am your No. 1 fan, Capt. Kori.”

On December 13, after reaching 100,000 subscribers, Kori shared another special message from Depp. This time, it was a phone call with Depp who was once again completely in character as Captain Jack Sparrow. Watch this phone call below.

Kori has teased that once his YouTube channel hits 200,000 subscribers he will share the rest of the call with Captain Jack where he gets knighted. Currently, Kori’s channel is very close to reaching that goal.

Kori’s YouTube channel has really taken off quickly. Just 8 days ago, he was excited to have 1000 subscribers. In a video where Kori and his mom thanked their subscribers, his mom also explained Kori’s health condition. He said, “Kori has had two heart transplants. He’s in palliative care, so we are making the most of whatever time we have left by not going to school – bonus – not really doing any housework, living in our pajamas; just slumming it really. We’re just kind of focusing on making life as good as we possibly can, having as much fun as we can when we can.”

In this same video, Kori’s mom shared that they were “hoping to get Johnny Depp on video very soon.” That wish definitely became a reality.

This is not the first time Depp has portrayed his famous character from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies for a good cause. He has been known to visit sick children completely in character as Captain Jack Sparrow.
