John Travolta Posts A Sweet Note Remembering Late Wife Kelly Preston On Her Birthday
When actor John Travolta posts a tribute on social media and mentions his “favorite dance partner,” it might be easy to assume that he’s talking about the late actress Olivia Newton John who co-stared with him in the movie musical “Grease.” While we’re sure Travolta considered John a memorable dance partner, she was not his “favorite.” That honor goes to his late wife, Kelly Preston.
Travolta and Preston first met in 1989, but she was married at the time to actor Kevin Gage. Travolta still considered it love at first sight, but it wasn’t exactly the same for Preston; although, he managed to win her affection. After her divorce was finalized, the pair started dating, and Travolta proposed on New Year’s Eve with a six-carat yellow-and-white diamond ring.
The couple was married on September 5th, 1991. Preston was already two months pregnant with their first child, a boy they named Jet. Unfortunately, Jet ended up dying while on vacation in the Bahamas with his family when he was just 16 years old. Travolta and Preston went on to have two more children, a daughter named Ella and a son named Ben.
The couple remained happily married for 28 years, but their 28th wedding anniversary was their last anniversary. On September 5th, 2019, the couple shared touching tributes to each other on social media, but Preston died of breast cancer before they could celebrate their next anniversary together. Travolta announced the sad news, revealing that she had been privately battling breast cancer for two years.
Now, over two years after her death, Travolta is keeping his late wife’s memory alive. On Mother’s Day, he posted a photo montage of memories of Preston and captioned the post, “We love and miss you Kelly. Happy Mother’s Day.”
Now, on what would have been Preston’s 60th birthday, Travolta is remembering her again. He posted an old picture of he and his wife embracing and smiling. He captioned the post, “Happy birthday to my favorite dance partner! We love you and miss you Kelly.”

Many people commented on Travolta’s post. Some seemed oblivious to the fact that Preston is no longer alive, writing comments like “happy birthday.” Others wrote touching and uplifting messages to Travolta. For example, one comment reads, “Kelly and Olivia are watching over you and your family, John.”
Another person commented, “Happy birthday in heaven Kelly. big hugs to you John, Ella and Ben.”
