Eva Evans, the creator of the Amazon Prime comedy “Club Rat” has died. Her sister, Lila, announced the sad news on Instagram on April 21, 2024. In the post, Lila shared a picture of her sister smiling, and perhaps even laughing, but the caption of the post was not nearly as uplifting as the picture.

Lila wrote, “Yesterday my family received news that our sweet, fabulous, creative, caring, hilarious Eva, my beautiful sister, has died.” She added, “After 24 hours, i still find myself in a constant cycle of denial and acceptance, so i know how unbelievable and hard to process this news will be.”

Lila explained that there will be a celebration of life on April 23rd in lower Manhattan.

At the end of her post, Lila wrote, “I wish I had Eva here now to refer to because she would have better words and know how to say what i don’t.” She added, “I am keeping this brief, so we can plan for the next few days, but you’ll be hearing a lot more from me on how much Eva means to me and just how different the world will be be without her.”

According to TMZ, Eva was found hanging in the living room of her NYC apartment by a friend. A suicide note was also left.

The friend found Eva’s body late Saturday night when this person was checking in on Eva after seeing her the previous morning.  Police said the friend was not aware of Eva having any mental health struggles or depression. Evans was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eva’s most recent Instagram post was just 4 days ago, which would be just two days before her death. Just two weeks ago, she posted from Puerto Rico, waxing poetic about the sunset and good company when watching the sunset. It doesn’t seems as if she was suffering from any illness in this posts, unless it was one she wasn’t aware of or wasn’t sharing publicly.

According to Deadline, “Club Rat” is a five episode series available on Prime Video. Eva wrote, directed, produced and stared in the series which is about an influencer whose breakup from her boyfriend goes viral, and she tries to recover from the humiliating breakup while also reentering the dating scene.

Multiple followers commented on Lila’s post about her sister’s death, many offering their condolences and sharing in Lila’s shock at the news. One friend mentioned that she saw her as recently as Friday night, that was just one day before Eva’s death.
