‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Files For Divorce
Back in 2011, “Grey’s Anatomy” actress Sara Ramirez got engaged to Ryan Debolt. One year later, the couple ended up getting married. Even though their marriage started in an ideal way, a private beachside wedding, they did not live happily ever after, at least, not as husband and wife.

In 2021, the couple announced that they were separated. At the time, Ramirez explained, “We remain loving and supportive in how we are choosing to forge our new individual paths. Thank you for holding space around our choices and respecting our families’ privacy as we navigate this process on our own terms.”
While their separation wasn’t announced until 2021, it turns out that they had already split up years before that public announcement.
TMZ reports that now, in 2024, three years after the separation announcement, Ramirez has officially filed for divorce. One interesting tidbit of information in the court documents is that Ramirez listed their date of separation as 2018, three years before they announcement publicly that they had split up.

In the documents, Ramirez also asked the court to block spousal support for either party, most likely due to the fact that the couple has a prenup.
Ramirez decided to take action to turn their separation into divorce on Tuesday June 11, 2024. The reason she put for wanting a divorce was “irreconcilable differences.”
Perhaps Ramirez’s gender played into those “irreconcilable differences.” In 2016, she announced that she was bisexual and queer. In 2020, she announced that she was also nonbinary. At the time, Ramirez shared, “In me is the capacity to be: girlish boy, boyish girl, boyish boy, girlish girl, all, neither.”

Does it surprise you that Ramirez and Debolt stayed legally married for six years after they split up? Why do you think Ramirez decided to file for divorce now?
