Grammy Award Winner Michael Bolton Announces Sad News
On Christmas, singer and songwriter Michael Bolton posted a picture on Instagram where he was standing next to a Christmas tree wearing a Santa hat. He captioned the post, “Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!” Days later, he posted a series of photos as a look back at 2023. He captioned that post, “Here’s to the places and faces that made 2023 unforgettable!” Both times, he was hiding something.
On January 5, 2024, Bolton shared some shocking news with his fans and followers. He posted a message without a picture and without an extra caption. He simply shared some news he learned “just before the holidays” and how that news led to “immediate surgery.”
Bolton wrote, “2023 ended up presenting some very unexpected challenges. Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required immediate surgery.”
The singer thanked his “incredible medical team” before adding the good news that “the surgery was a success.”
Bolton also gave an update about his current health status. He wrote, “I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family.”
Then Bolton said his recovery would mean he’ll “have to take a temporary break from touring.” He didn’t provide an exact date when he expects to start touring again, but he said that he would be “devoting my time and energy to recovery,” which would be his focus “for the next couple of months.” He also mentioned that he is “working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon.”
Expect for thanking his fans for their “love and support,” he did not provide any more details except to say that he will provide “more updates as soon as I can.”
