General Hospital actress Sonya Eddy passed away last night. She was 55 years old.

Her friend Octavia Spencer posted on Instagram that Ms.Eddy died on Monday. She did not provide any details on what caused Eddy’s death.

Eddy came to General Hospital in 2006 and appeared in 543 episodes. She played the character Epiphany Johnson, a practical head nurse who was the mother of the late Stan Johnson, whose character became a mob associate.

Other than General Hospital, Eddy has worked on several films and shows such as “The Drew Carey Show,” “Seinfeld,” “Patch Adams,””Inspector Gadget,” “Reba,” “Monk,” and “Bad News Bears.”
