‘Wonder Woman’ Actress Gal Gadot Will Star in a New Film About Cleopatra

Gal Gadot may be best known for her role as Wonder Woman, but she’s getting ready to play an even more powerful character.

We know: how could any character be more powerful than Wonder Woman? It is possible.

We’re talking about Cleopatra. The historic figure may not be a super hero like Wonder Woman, but we might argue that she was even more powerful since, well, she really existed. The female ruler was the last of the Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt, and just like today, she was one of only a few female rulers.

While working on “Cleopatra,” Gadot will be reunited with the woman who directed both of the “Wonder Woman” movies, Patty Jenkins. The script will be written by Laeta Kalogridis who wrote the scripts for “Shutter Island,” “Night Watch,” and “Alexander.”

This powerful trio of women is certainly up to the challenge of making one unforgettable movie! Perhaps it’ll be even better than the 1963 film by the same name starring Elizabeth Taylor in the title role. That film won 4 Academy Awards and was nominated for a total of 9 Oscars.

While it might be too early for Gadot to be writing her acceptance speech, it’s definitely not too early for her to be excited about the upcoming role. She shared her excitement on Twitter saying, “Cleopatra is a story I wanted to tell for a very long time.”

While Gadot is excited about the new role, not everyone thinks she is the right fit for the role of Cleopatra. Watch the video below for more details.

Historically, Cleopatra was most likely Greek, but some people think that a black or Egyptian actress should have been cast as the famous ruler.

Do you think Gadot was the right casting for Cleopatra?
