French Actor Faces More Accusations

On November 29, 2023, French actress Emmanuelle Debever left a “worrying” note for her partner at their home, which prompted him to contact the police. She ended up jumping from a bridge in Paris into the Seine River. Emergency responders attempted to save her life, and she was taken to the hospital. She did not survive. She died on December 7, 2023. She was 60 years old.

That same day, a documentary aired on a national TV channel in France called France 2. The documentary was about sexual misconduct claims made against French actor Gérard Depardieu.

Back in 2019, Debever claimed in a Facebook post that Depardieu had groped her back in 1982 on the set of the film “Danton.” She was only 19 years old, and she was playing the wife of Depardieu’s character.

In her post, she wrote, “This monster allowed himself to enjoy plenty during filming, making the most of the intimacy inside a carriage. Sliding his fat paw under my skirt to, in his words, ‘make me feel better.’” She added, “I didn’t allow it to happen.”

This isn’t the only sexual misconduct claim that has been made against Depardieu. According to the documentary on France 2, 16 women have accused Depardieu of sexual misconduct. In addition, the 74-year-old actor has been under investigation since 2020 for claims of sexual assault and rape made by actress Charlotte Arnould in 2018.

Depardieu denies that he has done any of these things. He even wrote an open letter to the French newspaper Le Figaro to tell his side of the story. He wrote, “I want to tell you the truth. I have never, ever abused a woman.”

Now, the Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into Debever’s death since she previously made claims of sexual misconduct against Depardieu.

Do you believe there is anything suspicious about Debever’s death? What do you think the prosecutors will discover in the investigation into her death? Do you believe Depardieu that he “never, ever abused a woman”? If Depardieu is telling the truth, why would so many women claim otherwise?
