Farewell ‘Ant Man’ Star
Actress Evangeline Lilly recently shared an old video of herself on Instagram. In the video, which was from 2006, she shares her vision for the future, and it’s quite surprising. She admits, “I’m terrified to admit this to the rest of the acting world, but ideally ten years from now I’d like to be a retired actress, and I would like to have a family, and I’d like to be writing and potentially influencing people’s lives in a more humanitarian way.”
While Lilly’s dream of retiring from acting didn’t come to pass 10 years after she made that statement, she didn’t forget about that dream. It just took her a little bit longer to get there. Now, in 2024, 18 years after the video was filmed, Lilly shared that she is stepping away from acting.
In the caption of the Instagram post where she shared the old video, she wrote, “I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision. Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings. Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment.”
While Lilly is choosing to leave her career behind for now, she shared that it’s possible she will act again someday. She wrote, “I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong. A new season has arrived, and I AM READY…and I AM HAPPY.”

According to IMDB, Lilly has acted in 26 different projects since 2003 and has one upcoming project called “Happy Life” which is listed as being in pre-production. She may be best known for her role as Hope van Dyne, or Wasp, in the MARVEL movies “Ant-Man” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp.”
