Elton John Ended His Very Last Tour Ever With One Of Our Favorite Songs

Singer Elton John’s musical career has been a long one, and we’re pretty sure he had no idea that his farewell tour would take as long to complete as he originally imagined.

Back in 2015, John and his husband David Furnish, sat down together and talked about John’s touring schedule and how that was going to work with their children’s school schedule. John ended up deciding that he needed to stop touring so that he could focus on spending more time with his family.

In 2018, John told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that he was going to go on one last farewell tour which was called the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.” It was set to kick off in 2018, and it did, but it was set to conclude in 2021, and it didn’t. The tour had to come to a long, unexpected stop due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Finally, the tour resumed, and John performed for the last time in North America at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium at the end of 2022. It was such a big deal that Disney+ even broadcast the concert live on the streaming platform.

While that was the last North American performance on the tour, the tour wasn’t over just yet. Now, in July 2023, John has officially completed the tour and has performed on tour for the last time.

The final stop on the tour was in Stockholm, Sweden. In all, John performed 330 shows while on tour, and more than 6 million fans attended the concerts.

In honor of the end of the tour, John posted a video on Instagram sharing a clip from the 2018 interview with Cooper where he announced that this would be his final world tour. In the post’s caption, John wrote, “What a journey this tour has been and now we find ourselves at the end of it. Tonight is the final night.”
