Ellen’s New U.K. Home Ravaged By Floodwaters
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, recently experienced severe flooding at their newly purchased home in the Cotswolds, England. The area was heavily affected by Storm Bert, which caused intense rainfall and river flooding. Their 43-acre multi-million dollar estate, located near a tributary of the River Thames, became inundated after the river burst its banks. Roads around the property were submerged in water up to five feet deep, leaving many residents stranded. The storm has claimed at least five lives across the UK and resulted in widespread damage.
The couple moved to the UK following the 2024 U.S. presidential election, seeking a quieter life away from the political climate in the United States. Their property, a luxurious converted farmhouse, was meant to offer a peaceful retreat but has now been disrupted by the flooding.
“The flood waters are rising by the hour. This is the worst I have seen it in years,” a local citizen said to The Daily Mail.
Torrential rain and winds up to 80 mph left their estate swamped, with surrounding roads submerged under five feet of water. The flooding has isolated locals and caused significant disruption just days after the couple moved in.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s newly acquired estate in the Cotswolds offers stunning countryside views and luxurious amenities, including a helicopter pad and a swimming pool. The couple reportedly paid over 3 million dollars above the asking price to secure the property.
Originally a farmhouse, the home was transformed into a modern luxury residence over 15 years ago while preserving its rustic charm. The barns have been creatively linked to the main house with glazed walkways. The estate features six bedrooms, four bathrooms, a five-bay garage, and a separate one-bedroom cottage. Additionally, an eco-friendly heat pump provides heating for both the house and the pool, as revealed in council records.
