Doctor Moved to Sing Touching Rendition of ‘Imagine’

There’s no doubt that we’re going through difficult, unusual, sometimes scary times. We can all use a morale boost, especially after being confined to our homes.

We at Tip Hero have working from home down, but working from home while helping our kids with their distance learning schoolwork is another story. Add the bad news the media seems to share every day, and these days of social distancing can be stressful.

Thankfully, many people are doing their part to boost moral throughout the country and world. Astronauts are offering advice about how to manage stress, and Neil Diamond modified the words to his classic song “Sweet Caroline. ” It’s magical and so needed right now, but he’s not the only one who believes that singing together can help cheer us up.

Two doctors from the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota recently sang a very moving rendition of John Lennon’s song “Imagine.” Drs. Elvis L. Francois and William Robinson are both chief residents in the orthopedic department, and this is not the first time they performed together.

Francois sings, and Robinson plays the piano. Francois told ABC News, “Music goes places that medicine can’t go. You can perform the perfect surgery but that next day, when a patient’s going through rehabilitation or they’re faced with a difficult diagnosis, music is something that speaks to the spirit.”

The doctors chose to record themselves performing the song “Imagine” because they believe it is an encouraging song about people coming together, and they wanted to do their part to help comfort people in this difficult time.

Watch the viral video they posted on Instagram below.

Imagine all the people… —- In life, there are so many things that divide us. Religion, race, politics, social status and many more….But today a global pandemic brings us all together as one. —- Over the next few months our health care system will be tested. Many lives will be lost. Health care providers will be under an incredible amount of stress to save thousands of people. But when times are as dark as they are today, nothing shines brighter than the human spirit. —- There is something beautiful about a collective struggle. And the beauty in what we are facing today is that the only way to overcome this pandemic is for us to all come together as one…. —- Nurses, doctors, students, research scientists, politicians, Uber eats drivers, cashiers, factory workers etc…..Getting through this will be hard but one thing is certain…the only way we will get through it is together, as one —- — —- “You might say that I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one. I hope some day that you will join us…and the world will live as one….” —- —- —- Full song on IGTV —- —- —- Thankful for my brother @w_a_robinson on the piano — 📸 @kpace1914 — — — Much love to all 7.53 billion people out there, Doctor Elvis —- #covid_19 #healthcareworkers #imagine
