Those Circles on the Lids of GLAD Containers Are Meant to Help You Prevent Soggy Meals

Do you ever have an “Ohhhh, that makes sense” moment?

You could use an item every single day and still not fully understand its function—until one day, bam! It just hits you right in the head and you can’t believe you hadn’t known about it all along.

Well, one particular moment spurred pretty much everyone on Twitter to freak out about just that.

One mom named Gracie was just posting about her weekly meal prep and decided to post about it on her Twitter. And while lots of people were drooling over her various spreads, there was something else that a lot of people couldn’t look past.

She was using an item that many people use on the daily—and yet, pretty much everyone had a similar reaction: “I had no idea that was used for that!”

Gracie was preparing a few salads in Glad plastic Tupperware containers. But you know those little plastic containers attached to the larger lid? She had somehow popped those open and filled them with a dip so that the rest of her meal didn’t have to come into contact with it.

That’s right—those little circles in the lids? They’re not just there as a design element. They’re actually meant to pop open so that you can add anything from salad dressings to dips to toppings—basically, anything that you can add to the rest of the meal when you eat it, and won’t make it soggy when it’s sitting in the fridge.

Why yes, it is brilliant. And no, we had no idea that’s what those things were used for.

“UM. How am I just now finding out that the circle on these lids are actually lids for the tiny containers?! Someone please tell me I’m not the only one,” someone commented.

“Omg that’s what that thing in the middle is for…” another person wrote.

“Learn something new every day!” someone else tweeted.

So why has literally everyone in the world missed this fun fact about Glad Tupperware? It’s unclear. Apparently Glad has marketed the lids like this, but it went completely over the vast majority of our heads. Oops.

What a cool discovery! This definitely makes us want to start meal prepping some salads and burrito bowls.

Did you have any idea that these lids were designed to hold dressings and other toppings? Are you gong to start using these lids for all they’re worth now?
