Pregnancy and childbirth can be hard on a woman’s body. Due to different circumstances, some women bounce back easier than others, and some women’s bodies will be changed forever. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.

“Dancing with the Stars” pro Lindsay Arnold had her first child, a daughter she named Sage Jill, in 2020. Her baby was delivered via cesarian section.

Just months later, Arnold was posting bikini pictures of herself on Instagram, and she looked completely flawless, so much so that her followers accused her of photoshopping her photos. They had a good reason. The photos did not show a scar from her c-section, and they assumed she must be photoshopping the scar.

In response to the criticism, Arnold posted another picture of herself, this time in a red bikini. This time her scar was visible.

In addition to the picture, Arnold also included a long caption explaining why her scar isn’t visible in other pictures and why she would never even consider photoshopping the scar out of pictures.

Arnold wrote, “There has been some speculation on my last couple posts about whether or not I have been photoshopping my scar out of my pictures… now I usually don’t even give time of day to comments like this BUT I feel like this needs to be addressed as it’s important to me that you all know that my c-section scar is now my favorite part of my body.”

Calling a scar “my favorite part of my body” might sound surprising, but Arnold explained why this scar is so meaningful to her. She wrote, “It is the representation of the thing I am most proud of in my life and that is our sweet Sagey.” She added, “I seriously want to show my scar to everyone I see cause I think it’s so insane and crazy cool that Sage came out of that little cut in my belly?! I mean come on how incredible is that?!”

After defending why she believes her scar is so “crazy cool,” she explained why the scar isn’t visible in her other posts. She wrote, “What’s also incredible are amazing doctors that make it possible to do a c-section and have the scar be so low it is not even visible in a bikini (had to pull my suit down low for this) which is why you all are not seeing it in my pics.”

Arnold ended her post by stating, “WOMENS BODIES ARE INCREDIBLE.”

Why do you think Arnold felt it was necessary to address the comments about her scar and the possibility that she was photoshopping it out of pictures? Does it surprise you that a mom would consider a c-section scar her “favorite” part of her body?
