If you’re a parent, you’re probably familiar with kids birthday parties, both hosting them and attending them. Some kids have their birthday parties at a venue like an indoor playground or a park. Some kids have their birthday party at their house. Regardless the location, it can be a lot of work and/or a lot of money spent trying to make the party everything the birthday kid wants, especially when the birthday kid is indecisive about what he or she wants.

One mom was brutally honest when she created a birthday party invitation for her child’s birthday party. She didn’t oversell or undersell the party to the parents reading the invitation. Instead, her honesty was so hilarious and relatable that one parent of a child who was invited to the party couldn’t resist sharing the invitation on TikTok.

Natalie LeClaire’s son received a birthday party invitation from Carys Roberts for her twins’ upcoming birthday party. On TikTok, LeClaire read the invitation word for word, and after hearing what Roberts wrote, it’s easy to see why LeClaire instantly decided, “We will absolutely be attending because these are my people. This is the kind of mom I can be friends with.”

The party was for Roberts’ twin daughters Elle and Edie who would be celebrating their 5th birthday. The invitation made it clear that it wouldn’t be perfect or elaborate. Instead, Roberts wrote, “This event is brought to you by Pinterest fails and the Dollar Store.”

As far as the theme, it would include “unicorns but with rainbows and maybe bats but there should be princesses and also Minnie and we need dancing lights.” Roberts also seemed to think that the swimming pool might also be part of the party, so she told parents, “Please pack a bathing suit, sunscreen, puddle jumpers etc. in case your sweet baby angels decide our original plan sucks and the pool would be a better time.”

Roberts even made it clear that she is fine with parents staying for the party with their child or opting to simply drop off their child and come back after the party to them up. She wrote, “You do you.”

Roberts told TODAY that she is “truly thrilled that people thought the invitation was so relatable and funny.”
