Born in Portland and later establishing roots in Milwaukie, Oregon, Moore’s journey into the health food industry began with a desire for a more conscious diet, shared with his wife Charlee. In 1974, they opened Moore’s Flour Mill in Redding, California, marking the inception of their commitment to whole-grain, healthy foods. The couple went on to establish Bob’s Red Mill in Milwaukie in 1978, which grew into a flourishing business.

Bob Moore’s impact extended beyond his innovative business ventures. In 2010, as Bob’s Red Mill became a $100 million company, Moore made a remarkable decision by gifting the company to his employees, embodying his values of fairness and benevolence. He saw his employees as contributors to the company’s success, and this move reflected his commitment to treating others as he would like to be treated.
