Per his obituary, he died peacefully in his bed at his beloved cabin home of nearly 50 years in Ashland, Oregon.

Born in 1939—the same year The Wizard of Oz brought color to the big screen—Arndt lived a life full of color, adventure, and passion. A decorated Vietnam War veteran, he served as a helicopter pilot and was awarded the Purple Heart twice. After flying in Alaska, he transitioned into acting, landing a lead role in his very first audition in Seattle. From there, his second career took off.
