Many people have gotten Covid since the pandemic began. In fact, many people have had it multiple times, but not every celebrity who has had it has opened up about their personal experience.

Actor Al Pacino recently opened up about his experience with Covid, and it’s quite extreme. In fact, he says that he actually died.

The actor sat down for an interview for The New York Times podcast “The Interview” in order to promote his new memoir titled “Sunny Boy.” During the interview the topic turned to Covid.

Pacino shared that during the pandemic he actually did get Covid. He explained that it started by him feeling unwell, but then, he actually died. He said, “I was sitting there at my house, and I was gone. Like that.” Pacino added, “I didn’t have a pulse.”

It didn’t take long for the paramedics to arrive. He explained, “In a matter of minutes, I guess, or whatever it took, they were there.” He said, “I had about six paramedics in that living room, and there were two doctors, and they had these outfits that looked like they were from outer space or something.”

When Pacino gained consciousness, he was startled to see all of the doctors. He explained, “It was kind of shocking to open your eyes and see that. I opened my eyes and everybody was around me — the first time that’s ever happened.”

The doctors were also startled, but in a good way. Pacino explained that they said, “He’s back. He’s here.”

While Pacino may have had a near death experience or even a brief experience of actually being dead, it wasn’t a situation where he crossed over to the other side and remembered anything profound. He said, “I didn’t see the white light or anything like that.”

The experience did impact the way Pacino looks at life, or rather the way he looks at death. Since he didn’t see a “white light or anything” he believes that death is the end. “It’s gone, you’re gone,” he said. He added that he “doesn’t like” thinking that death is the end and had never thought about it before his experience with Covid.

Perhaps that’s part of the reason Pacino wrote his memoir, so that at least his memories will live on in book form. “Sunny Boy” went on sale on October 8, 2024.
