From 1976 through 1983, actress Judy Farrell appeared on a total of 8 episodes of the sitcom “M*A*S*H” as the character Nurse Able. While this is the role she is best known for, she also acted in a variety of other TV series including “Get Smart,” “The Partridge Family,” and “Quincy, M.E.”  In addition to acting, Farrell also worked as a writer and wrote 131 episodes of the TV series “Port Charles.”

He explained that she was conscious up until her death, but she was unable to speak. However, she was able to squeeze the hands of her family members who were by her side.

Farrell’s first husband was Mike Farrell who played Captain B.J. Hunnicutt on “M*A*S*H.” They got divorced in 1983, and she married her second husband, Joe Bratcher in 1985.

Actress Loretta Swit worked alongside Farrell on “M*A*S*H.” She portrayed Maj. Margaret ‘Hot Lips’ Houlihan. Swit told Entertainment Weekly that Farrell “was a most beautiful woman — inside and out. We grew up together. She was family. This has been a painful loss, but we will always have the beauty of her memory. Rest in peace, Nurse Able.”
